EQUIPMENT

1 Gallon Freezer Bag

Ingredients
  

Add to Gallon Freezer Bag:

  • 1/2 lb Extra Lean Ground Beef or turkey
  • 1 (15 oz) can Crushed Tomatoes
  • 1 (8 oz) can Tomato Sauce
  • 1/4 cup Diced Onion
  • 1/4 cup Mozzarella Cheese
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan Cheese
  • 1/4 cup Part-Skim Ricotta Cheese
  • 1/2 tsp Minced Garlic
  • 1 tsp Dried Basil
  • 1/4 tsp Oregano
  • 1/8 tsp Thyme
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Black Pepper

Add Day of Cooking:

  • 8 oz Pasta, uncooked Rigatoni Pasta, Ziti, or another favorite

Instructions
 

To Freeze and Cook Later:

  • Label your freezer bag with the recipe's name, cooking instructions, and date.
  • Add all ingredients to the freezer bag. DO NOT break up meat.
  • Carefully remove as much air as possible, seal, and freeze for up to three months.

Slow Cooker:

  • Empty the thawed contents of the bag into a slow cooker.
  • Cook on low for 4-6 hours or on high for 3-4 hours until the internal temperature reaches 165F.

Pressure Cooker:

  • Empty the frozen contents of the bag into a pressure cooker and add 1/4 cup liquid.
  • Turn the pressure to high and cook for 15 minutes, quick pressure release.

Additional Instructions:

  • Break up meat and mix, allow sauce to sit for afew minutes before serving.
  • Cook pasta according to package instructions. Once cooked, add to pot
  • Top with parmesan cheese and serve with a tossed salad, asparagus, broccoli or another non-starchy vegetable.
